Philosophy

The beautiful, the noble and the special

Enjoying art is probably the highest form of luxury. With the guiding principle “The Art of Being Unique”, THE WELLEM hotel not only celebrates art, but also inextricably links it with life. The art of being unique becomes the fourth dimension here.
The idea of the hotel elevates all areas of aesthetics to the status of art. This means that every room and every moment of your stay creates unique, artistic experiences that are waiting to be discovered.

Sound & Silence

THE WELLEM has succeeded in preserving values that have stood the test of time and giving them a future. In addition to the aesthetic power of architecture, these include the inspiration of art in all its forms and the human need for security on the one hand and for encounters on the other. All three pillars of this philosophy find space and time at Hotel The Wellem.

Long live the contrast!

The artist HA Schult, internationally renowned for his object and action art, was involved in the conception of THE WELLEM from the very beginning. He describes the tension between sound and silence in which THE WELLEM hotel expresses itself as a symbol of our time and a place of longing. Through the ambivalence of liveliness and community on the one hand, and the need for retreat and inner contemplation on the other.

This synthesis of supposedly irreconcilable opposites characterizes life at The Wellem and makes it an incomparable experience.

The sound of silence

Refuge in the midst
of the hustle and bustle

The quiet side of THE WELLEM hotel is most evident in the green garden courtyard. Just a few steps away from the legendary and turbulent Ratinger Strasse, you feel like you are in another world. In the middle of a carefully landscaped and well-tended park, the rippling of the pool, distant church bells, birdsong and the quacking of the ducks that occasionally settle here compose a different, very special symphony every day. As a resident or guest of the hotel, you can also listen to it from the “boxes”, i.e. the balconies and roof terraces, as well as in the garden itself, where benches invite you to take a break. An impressive experience that makes you forget you are in the middle of Düsseldorf. This unique program of contrasts quickly makes you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allows you to retreat into peace and quiet at any time.
